Mosgiel Residence

This “Mosgiel Residence” was recognised as runner-up in the Single Family Homes under 3,000 sq ft Classic category in the International 2021 Building Excellence Awards 2021.

This 1,582-square-foot home located in New Zealand was built by Timber Tech Homes, Ltd. A tight building envelope of SIPs is an integral part of creating this net-zero energy home, which resulted in energy savings of 84% monthly when compared to a typical home of this size in New Zealand.

Using SIPs on the Mosgiel Residence project saved time, labor, and construction costs. In addition, the tight building envelope is an integral part of creating this net-zero home which has resulted in significant energy savings. According to the builder, this home’s monthly power bill is NZ$80 whereas power for a typical home of this size costs NZ$500. This represents an 84% savings monthly in power costs.
